Dear Doctors: A vendor at our weekend farmers market was telling his customers about something called the “Dirty Dozen” list. Apparently it has to do with pesticides and shopping for produce?

Even though we have a new pope, the message remains the same

Once Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, the news anchors and reporters and podcasters – and anyone else with an excuse or a budget to go to Rome – have gone home, there will still be a market for details about the new pope.

Girlfriend chooses not to invite partner

DEAR HARRIETTE: I overheard my girlfriend on the phone with someone discussing an important work event she was meant to attend. Her colleague, whom I’ve met a few times, said they’d given her a plus one and mentioned that my girlfriend would probably want to have me there, too. To my surprise, she denied the need for a plus one, saying that I didn’t need to be there and that she’d rather fly solo this time around. For some reason, hearing her refusal really stung.

Dear Doctors: I was having stomach pain and some nausea. The doctor found bacteria in my stomach, and I was diagnosed with a gastric ulcer. Now I’m being told that I should get screened for stomach cancer.

Certain logic in resistance to presidency

There has been a certain escalatory logic in the resistance to Donald Trump’s rise to the presidency. In the very beginning, when few took him seriously, they laughed at him. Then they tried to defeat him in the 2016 election. Then some frantically searched for a way to prevent him from taking office. Meanwhile, U.S. intelligence and law enforcement agencies spied on his campaign and opened an investigation into him. Then they hoped the investigation would lead to impeachment, which would then lead to his removal. Then, when the investigation – the Trump-Russia probe conducted by former Justice Department special counsel Robert Muller – went bust, they turned on a dime and impeached Trump for something else.

DO JUST ONE THING

• Many of us are incorporating salmon into our diets as a high-protein addition to a healthier lifestyle. But not all salmon fillets are the same. Wild-caught Alaskan salmon have high levels of heart-healthy omega-3s, are low in contaminants and are caught sustainably through tough Alaskan regulations and government monitoring of the fishing industry. Farm salmon, on the other hand, are “grown” in tightly packed pools and often are fed high amounts of antibiotics to combat diseases.
