At this week’s virtual meeting of the Clinton Board of Education, outgoing Superintendent Kevin Hime recommended that annual bonuses for teachers and support staff be cut back this year in anticipation of state budget cuts.
The Clinton City Council has called a special meeting for 10:30 a.m. Friday to consider naming an acting city manager.
The Oklahoma Historical Society has announced that Clinton’s Route 66 Museum is projected to reopen on June 1, but this year it will not be moving to its usual expanded operating hours for the summer. Ordinarily the museum expands its hours during the summer to accommodate the surge of summer travelers and stays open seven days a week with later evening hours. This year Route 66 Museum will maintain its regular winter hours of 9 a.m. until 5 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday.

An alleged abuser is off the streets, as Clinton Police Officers arrested Steven Burk, 21, Friday on a Custer County warrant for domestic assault and battery by strangulation.

Clinton School District officials learned this week that the district will receive $560,000 in coronavirus relief CARES Act funds, with the opportunity for additional grants as well. The funds are part of the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ESSER) Fund designated for states after the CARES Act was signed into law in March.
