Cordell resident and State Representative Todd Russ, 60, announced June 29 that he seeks the Republican nomination for state treasurer next year. Russ is completing his sixth term in the Oklahoma House of Representatives. State Treasurer Randy McDaniel announced earlier this month he would not seek reelection.

A couple from Guernsey, Wyo., was arrested for allegedly stealing a trailer and bale squeeze from a barn near Arapaho.
Turkey vultures have made Clinton home over the past few years. According to Animal Control Officer Heather Estrada, this is because buzzards, including the string of turkey buzzards, learn to adapt in towns. They do not live in wooden areas.
