Classes resume

Eastside Academy resumed classes Aug. 23. According to Steven Collins, president of the Board of Directors for Eastside Academy, the program currently has 20 children participating.

Quilters using pattern from 1936

Clinton resident Janice Berrong and Sayre resident Cindy Grant were working together this past year to find quilting pattern pieces originally released from the Clinton Daily News in 1936. Grant plans on recreating this quilt in the future.

Reader feeling guilt

DEAR HARRIETTE: My college professor passed away unexpectedly last weekend. She and I never really got along, but I had a lot of respect for her as my professor. Because we didn’t have the best relationship, and at times I could be quite rude to her, I’m feeling a bit of guilt. She wasn’t much older than my mother and has kids that are the same age as me. Boyd retires from SWOSU

Dr. Ruth Boyd, who has served as vice president for student affairs at Southwestern Oklahoma State University since 2015, has announced her retirement after 17 years on the Weatherford campus.
