An attic fire in the 500 block of north Second Street was extinguished with minimal damage to the house. Firefighters who assisted were Capt. Forrest Valentine, left, and firemen John Denney and Billy Gerstenkorn. Officials said the fire started because of an electrical failure.

Officer Gloria Rivera graduates from C.L.E.E.T

Clinton police officer Gloria Rivera graduated from the Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training academy (CLEET) in Ada Dec. 28. The training was a 16-week course that was divided into eight weeks of online classes and inperson physical training.

CMS top spelling B-E-E finishers

This week Clinton Middle School hosted its annual spelling bee competition. Evan Hunter, left, was the top speller and took the contest with the word “orientation.” He will advance to the next level of competition. Ben Christie, middle, was the runner-up and will serve as an alternate. Sutton Hernandez, right, finished third.
