Clinton high school Lady Reds senior middle hitter Taryn Wraspir has found enjoyment of the game of volleyball in other areas besides playing the sport itself while she keeps focused on her future.
High school football saw its big return to the gridiron and the city of Clinton this past Friday.
Corn Bible Academy will be led by a new head coach this year in 17-year coaching veteran, Zach House. The Crusaders are coming off a four-win season last year and look to improve.
After graduating 100% of their starting backfield and starting wide receivers, along with a new head coach, the Burns Flat-Dill City Eagles are somewhat of an unknown commodity. They will have to look for leadership from their interior linemen to carry them forward this year after going 8-3 with a first-round playoff appearance last year.
Clinton’s rich football tradition includes a player, Randy Kiesau, and a coach, Fred Friedrich, who have been remembered through awards given every year at the CHS football banquet.
After falling short of defending its title last year as they lost to Poteau, 35-28, in the second round in a three-overtime thriller, the Clinton High School football team looks to return to the promised land and capture the program’s 18th title.
Clinton is not just any football town. In a lot of circles Clinton is THE football town. That’s thanks in part to a lengthy legacy of winning and constant support from the community.
