Tempe Amelia Oakes

Tempe Amelia Oakes, age 22, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, passed away on May 21, 2025.

Tempe was born on November 13, 2002, in Guymon, Oklahoma, to Jaime and Cortney Oakes.

A gifted artist, pianist and seamstress, Tempe brought beauty and compassion into everything she did. She graduated as a valedictorian of Guymon High School in 2021, where she also shined as a cross country and track athlete. Her academic excellence earned her the President’s Distinguished Scholarship to attend Oklahoma State University.

Tempe was the embodiment of quiet strength, gentleness, and kindness.

Her faith in Jesus was the foundation of her life, guiding the way she loved and served others.

One of Tempe’s favorite scriptures was Psalm 37:4: “Delight yourself in the Lord, and He will give you the desires of your heart.” She delighted in her faith, her family, and in bringing joy to those around her.

Tempe especially cherished her role as a sister. She taught her younger sisters art, planned tea parties, and made each of them feel deeply loved.

Her talents were many — from her music and artwork to her baking —but it was her humility and gentle spirit that left a lasting mark on everyone she met.

She is survived by her loving parents, Jaime and Cortney; her brothers Samuel, Paul Lawrence, Harrison and Benjamin; her younger sisters Lauren, Emily, and Madison; her grandparents Jim and Cheryl Oakes and Clint Roush. Tempe also leaves behind many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends whose lives were brighter because of her.

A memorial service to honor Tempe’s life will be held Monday morning, May 26th at 10:00 a.m. at the Guymon First Baptist Church with Pastor Michael Carter officiating. Burial will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon.

The Oakes family will receive friends on Sunday evening, May 25th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home. Memorials may be given to the Guymon First Baptist Church and will be accepted at the church office or Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942.
