Roger Keith Snider, age 82, longtime Clinton resident, was born April 16, 1943, in Clinton, Oklahoma to Weldon Harrison and Margery Mae (Pyron) Snider and passed away Monday, October 6, 2025, at Clinton Regional Hospital.
Roger was raised in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School in 1961 as a proud Red Tornado. During his time as a Red Tornado, he was named Tornado Boy alongside his Tornado Girl, Donna Mae Lorenz. He participated in many extracurricular activities including football, basketball, track, and baseball. During his time in FFA, he won Grand Champion at the Custer County Fair with his Hereford Steer “Bolivar” and Champion Shorthorn at the Tulsa State Fair with his steer “Buddy.” During his time in FFA, Roger earned the prestigious American Farmer Award in 1962. On June 2, 1962, he married the love of his life, Donna Mae Lorenz, at the Clinton First United Methodist Church.
He went on to attend Oklahoma State University, earning his bachelor’s degree in 1965. After graduating, Donna and Roger moved back to Clinton to start their family and begin farming.
Roger was active in his community, serving 40 years on the Soil Conservation Board, 21 years of service on the Farmer’s Cooperative Board of Western Oklahoma, and 44 years of service to the Foss Water Conservation Board.
Roger was a lifetime member of the First United Methodist Church in Clinton.
At 16 years of age, Roger joined his father in the Snider Farm Operation. For the last 70 years, he continued to build his farming legacy.
He had an especially fond time with all of his grandsons helping on the farm and his granddaughters delivering meals to the field during harvest.
His hobbies included playing tennis, skiing, cheering for his OSU Cowboys, and especially attending his daughters’ and grandchildren’s sporting events. He cherished time spent with his Lorenz family at the lake and was a beloved member of the morning coffee group at the Cherokee Trading Post.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Weldon Harrison and Margery Mae Snider; daughter, Amy Dawn Snider-Avera; grandson, Roger Colten Byrd; and his in-laws, Don and Glenda Lorenz.
Roger is survived by his wife, Donna, of the home; daughters, Dana and husband Mark Hoffman of Weatherford, and Shannon and husband Ernie Dowdell of Clinton; six grandchildren, Matthew Harrison Hoffman and wife Keela of Clinton, Jacob Anthony Hoffman and wife Sydney of Clinton, Samuel Marcus Hoffman of Weatherford, Glenda Kate and husband Khoa To of Oklahoma City, Emma Lee Dowdell of Norman, and Ernest Snider Dowdell of Clinton; and four great-grandchildren, Colt Byrd of Watonga, Rus Harrison Hoffman, Cal Henry Hoffman, and Ella Jo Hoffman, all of Clinton.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the First United Methodist Church in Clinton with Reverend Diana Pruitt officiating.
Burial will follow in the Chapel Hill Cemetery under the direction of the Lee Hometown Funeral Home in Clinton.
