Otis Ray Martin has been ridding the Clinton Riverside Golf Course of gopher mounds since 2021. He says nowadays – when he’s not golfing – he spends most of his time at the course catching gophers. This recent past time of his has earned him the nickname “Carl” with several of the golfers. This is in reference to “Carl Spackler” from the 1980 American sports comedy film “Caddyshack.” Much like Spackler, Martin’s proficiency has proven he has a “license to kill gophers from the government of the United Nations.”
