Nominations are currently being sought for Clinton Citizen of the Year, AMBUCS Woman of the Year and Clinton Volunteer of the Year. Winners will be announced at the Chamber of Commerce’s annual banquet to be held Friday, Aug. 14, at the Frisco Center.
The Clinton City Council agreed this week to accept $350,000 from its insurance provider, the Oklahoma Municipal Assurance Group, to close the chapter on an ongoing legal battle to recover damages to the Clinton Lake water treatment plant that happened in August, 2011.

Clinton school administrators are formulating contingency plans for any COVID-19-related situations that may arise after school starts, but all indications are that — one way or another — kids will be back in school on Aug. 13.

The Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes held the official groundbreaking ceremony in Clinton last week for what will become the “Cheyenne & Arapaho Emergency Preparedness Building.” The facility will house the Tribes’ EMS service, currently located north of the Indian Hospital. Its Emergency Preparedness Office, currently located in Concho, will relocate there as well.
The Foss Lake Association’s 30th annual salute to veterans and active military members, “Christmas in July,” will kick off at 1 p.m. on Friday, ending with a spectacular fireworks show on Saturday. Anyone attending the event will not be required to purchase a parking pass, said Foss State Park manager Barry Hardaway.
