New Year’s blaze causes heavy damage

A blaze large enough to produce smoke that clouded parts of U.S. Highway 183, broke out around 11:33 p.m. New Year’s Day at 618 Congress Ave., and the Clinton Fire Department rapidly responded and put out the fire, before it extended beyond the initial area.

Weatherford Police dealt recently with a hostile individual who kept telling officers to kill him after they were called to help in a situation where he was threatening a woman with a knife.
