Elder abuse awareness is a topic of concern. According to the Southwestern Oklahoma Development Authority, every year an estimated 1 in 10 older Americans are victims of elder abuse, neglect, or exploitation.

Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) recently sent a letter to the Director of the Defense Health Agency, Lt. Gen. Ronald Place, following concerns raised to his office by Oklahoman veterans that TRICARE rules do not allow veterans to submit electronic forms and documentation, particularly for Express Scripts, despite being able to submit them electronically in other areas of health care.

Chamber to host luncheon for members

Clinton’s Chamber of Commerce is hosting a luncheon for all members June 30 at the Frisco Center. Four board of director positions will be filled during the luncheon. Mary Eagan, Tyler Bridges, Traci Heerwald and Cale Sawatzky are this year’s nominees, according to Chamber President Julie Caldwell.

Clinton resident David Vasquez was asleep June 13 when armed intruders broke into his home. The robbery took place at approximately 4 a.m. at the 400 block of Prairie Chief Ave.

Clinton resident Chauncy Bolden, 41, allegedly entered Fast Cash attempting to cash a $2,500 check June 16. Bolden allegedly claimed that the check was given to him by Louise Sam, 87, who wanted him to cash it.
