Clinton Public Schools is continuing its program allowing free meals to any student in the district, as well as other ways helping parents and the community with the start of the new school year.

The Clinton AMBUCS Chapter recently recognized two local individuals for their outstanding work in supporting the community. Debbie Carlisle was named AMBUC of the Year, and Carol Davis was named AMBUCS Therapist of the Year.

On the last Saturday night of July, a group gathered virtually for a poetry reading. We were fans – and some, friends – of Jane Greer. You may not know her name, but some considered Greer the greatest living American poet. She died after a few weeks of health complications, having prepared spiritually in the ways one does when earthly days are winding down.

GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP) — A man charged this week with fatally shooting a police officer in her Maryland home nearly 30 years ago was the officer’s live-in boyfriend and had blamed her 1995 killing on a burglary, police officials said Wednesday.
