Legislators set goals for new session

We hit the ground running with the start of the legislative session last week. We began by hearing the State of the State address from Gov. Kevin Stitt.

When popes talk about sex, it tends to make headlines. This was certainly true when Pope Francis told the Associated Press last month, 'Being homosexual isn't a crime.' He said the Catholic Church opposes criminalizing homosexuality and that, 'We are all children of God, and God loves us as we are.' The pope then noted that homosexual activity is 'not a crime. Yes, but it's a sin.'

There was some outrage surrounding the 'Unholy' performance of Sam Smith and Kim Petras at the Grammys, which involved Smith dressing up like the devil, against a backdrop of someone's cartoonish idea of hell.

This week Senators James Lankford (R-Okla.) and Cory Booker (D-N.J.) introduced a bill to eliminate a federal subsidy for professional sports stadiums.

Parent doesn’t want to overstep with bullied son

DEAR HARRIETTE: My son is being bullied, and I feel powerless to help him. It brings back painful memories of when I was a kid and how much worse things got for me when my parents got involved. I fear that the same thing will happen if I try to intervene. Should I talk to my son's school or just hope he is strong enough to cope on his own?
