Frank grew up and attended school in Clinton, Oklahoma. He ran track and field and was an exceptional football player. But his real interest was music engineering as he became a DJ in his early adulthood. He was also a truck driver by profession.
Frank was indeed the family member with the biggest heart. His position was the head of the household and the father figure to his younger siblings while keeping them all in line (just ask his younger brother and sisters), while their mother, Peggy, would occasionally work three jobs at once.
Additionally, Bug, as he was often called, always kept a vigilant watch on the local neighborhood children. He encouraged them while making sure they were performing well in school with ice cream and popsicles.
The late Brother Larry Hayes performed Frank’s baptism at the Southeast Church of Christ in Clinton, Oklahoma.
Frank was notorious for his role as the Lincoln Addition’s guardian and protector. Many people considered him a big brother or uncle. He fought and spoke out against injustices while also policing his own neighborhood. However, at times, he may have safeguarded too well, as it would land him in a bit of trouble. Nonetheless, Frank would reemerge even more fired up to continue the fight and protesting to right the wrongs.
Frank was also referred to as Frank the Bank, Frank the King of DJs, and Nino Brown.
Frank, the King of DJs, kept the oldies but goodies rocking as the preferred DJ for events from Oklahoma to California. While also entertaining his neighbors with his jams.
Being a father of eight kept Frank on his toes. However, like any parent, his grandchildren were the light in his eyes.
Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Peggy Ann Ford; brothers, Tommy and Willie Sr. Ford; sister, Earline Ford; daughter, Latasha Ford; grandson, Devin Lister; greatgrandson, Skylar Sadler; and grandparents, Alfred and Molly Washington.
Frank is survived by eight children; sons, Leonard Lister and wife Tracye of Sacramento, California, James Kirkendoll, Frank Ford Jr. and wife Jacquelyn of California, Kevin Kirkendoll of Chattanooga, TN, and Frashon Ford of Edmond, Oklahoma; two stepsons, Deon Gresham and Davar Pearson; stepdaughter, Fleicia Duncan; twelve beloved grandchildren, Nicole Barker, Dwayne Barker, April Edwards, James (DJ) Kirkendoll, Dominique Kirkendoll, Jayden Kirkendoll, Quintin Lister, Desiree Ford, Desmond Ford, Kevin Kirkendoll Jr., Hendrix Ford, and Rozalyn Ford; twelve adorable great-grandchildren, Jayla, Zayah, Dallas, Aaliyah, Sky, Aiden, Dillion, Aubree, Jaxson, Juliana, Bailey, and Carter.
Along with his three surviving siblings are his brother, Dewayne “Papa” Ford, his wife, Pamela, and his sisters, Donnie Ethel Ford-Williams, her husband James, and Brenda Delarose, and her husband Donnie, and a host of family and friends.
Frank leaves us with a legacy to cherish and love forever.
