KINGSTON, N.Y. (AP) — A former New York state trooper accused of ramming his vehicle into an SUV during a high-speed chase leading to the death of an 11-yearold girl was convicted of manslaughter Friday at his second trial.

A local man is facing charges after an alleged break-in and assault on a woman and her daughter.

Public and environmental safety was at the forefront of discussion during Monday’s meeting of the Custer County commissioners. Custer County Emergency Management Director Hardy Sperle presented forms for approval related to the saferoom grant, county officials discussed fire danger, and different aspects of drought and high winds were considered in relation to how they impact roadways and signage through the county.

Wind, blowing up to 60 MPH in western Oklahoma, led to two fires near Arapaho on Sunday. Multiple units from surrounding cities and stations all assisted with the blaze.
